STRATAWORKS is a collection of new collage works by Ms. Aldridge, continuing her exploration of alternative uses for traditional canvas, which led her to develop a body of work she calls glayered-paintings.h  Symbolic imagery is placed on both the front and back of each piece, making each surface part of the larger design.  Following completion of the layered painting, Aldridge then pierces and cuts the piece, re-shaping the two-dimensional painting into a multi-dimensional image.    There may be multiple layers, and an unraveling of each image leads the viewer into a deeper engagement with the imagery presented.  She explores her perceptions of gSelfh by translating her imagery into various visual and spatial layers containing repetition, metaphoric spaces such as doors and elevators, and the physical mechanics of layering and hinging the artwork in vibrant allusions to the interfacing of inner life to public life.  Aldridge states her belief that gwhen we strip away anything down to its core we c find infinity inside, everything as well as nothing.h
